As a business which is in a state of change caused by the move to a Rail Trackside, capability change needs to be planned and all the resources available throughout the industry need to be used. One tool we have is the Close Call reporting system. This enables us to monitor the problems at both our worksites and those of our Clients, our depots and Offices.
A Close Call is an “Event that had the potential to cause injury or damage” It is not to be confused with a ‘Near Miss’ that involves Trains or On-Track Plant.
Simply put, it is anything that is “Not Right” and could have caused injury or damage, but this time didn’t.
"If you see something with the potential to cause harm raise the alarm on site and make it safe. If it is not safe to continue work then stop. Once the hazard has been removed or made safe then report it in."
